Renault Captur Crossover gets a more powerful diesel option

The Renault Captur Crossover – launched in 2013 – can now be ordered with a more powerful 1.5 litre dCi 110 diesel with 109bhp, but still manages to return 76mpg.

It’s getting on for two years since the Renault Captur crossover arrived in the UK, and it’s turned out to be a rather good way to blat round the urban landscape; funky, appealing and frugal – a proper Nissan Juke alternative. And now you can have a diesel Captur with more power.

Renault has announced that it’s fitting the Captur with the dCi 110 diesel engine, which means power goes up by around 20bhp to 109bhp from the dCi 90 option, and with it performance.

You may not win many traffic light grands prix with the dCi 110, but an improvement from 12.6 seconds to 62mph in the dCi 90 to 11 seconds in the dCi 110 will make the Capture feel much more lively around town.

Despite the increase in get up and go, the Captur dCi 110 still manages official economy of 76.4mpg, hardly any difference from the dCi 90, so the only downside is a bit more money for the more powerful option.

That means the Captur Dynamique ENERGY dCi 110 costs £17,695, the Dynamique S ENERGY dCi 110 £1`9,195 and the range-topping Signature ENERGY dCi 110 £20,795.

If you want the Captur with the new dCi 100 engine, Renault’s UK dealers are taking orders from 1 April 2015.
