Rolls Royce Wraith: The Inspector Morse Edition
[nggallery id=2140 template=customlinks]
A one-off Rolls Royce Wraith has been created for a client by Rolls Royce Bespoke, inspired by the Jaguar MK II driven by Inspector Morse. Really.
Rolls Royce Bespoke is prepared to do whatever a client wants (if their pockets are deep enough), and, as RR say, inspiration is everywhere when it comes to deciding how your new Rolls will look. That inspiration can be anything at all, from form to colour, but we wonder how many times RR has been asked to pay tribute to a car by another maker?
This one-off Rolls Royce Wraith has apparently been created by Rolls Royce Bespoke for a client who is a fan of the TV show Inspector Morse, where John Thaw, as Inspector Morse, drove the now famous Jaguar MK II with the 248 RPA plate.
Used in all the episodes of Morse (and extremely prone to breaking down and a pig to drive, according to John Thaw), the Jag was the idea of the TV production company (Morse drove a Lancia in the books), and suited the real-ale-loving Morse much better (and meant John Thaw could treat the MK II with respect, unlike Regan in the Sweeney, a show probably responsible for the demise of more MK IIs than anything), becoming probably the best know Jaguar MK II in the world in the process.
The Morse Jag has a Regency Red paint job, but the Wraith seems to have gone up a shade or two on the red spectrum with their Morse tribute, although the black vinyl roof of the Jaguar is mimicked with a painted black roof on the Wraith.
Still, we’re guessing the man who’s picking up the bill for the Wraith loves the colour.
