SEAT Leon CUPRA R costs £34,995 – just 24 of 799 for the UK

The SEAT Leon Cupra R – revealed at Frankfurt as SEAT’s most potent car – goes on sale in the UK from £34,995. Just 24 allocated for the UK.

The 2018 SEAT Lean Cupra R arrived at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September as SEAT titivated the Cupra 300 with an extra 10bhp, some carbon fibre extras, tweaked interior and some extra performance tweaks as well.

Now, the Leon Cupra R is going on sale in the UK, but if you want one you’ll need to find £34,995 and be quick – there are just 24 allocated to the UK.

The car gets 306bhp up 10bhp on the Cupra 300 – good for 0-62mph in 5.8 seconds, with a six-speed manual gearbox, new steering system, modified camber angles at the front, Brembos and a re-tuned exhaust system.

Cosmetic titivations include carbon fibre details for the rear spoiler, lower lip spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser, redesigned air intakes and copper colouring for the door mirrors and ‘CUPRA’ lettering, as well as copper and black 19″ alloys.

Inside there’s copper detailing on the dashboard, centre console, door panel stitching and steering wheel, Alcantara and a numbered plaque (just 799 are being built).

SEAT has also upped the spec level from the Cupra 300, with the R getting Keyless, wireless phone charging, Winter Pack, rear view camera, Safety Pack, BEATS Sound, Adaptive Cruise and Sat Nav.

On sale now, customer cars will start to arrive in January 2018.
