THIS is the new DS 3 Crossback
The DS 3 Crossback – a high-riding take on the DS3 Hatch – will be revealed later today, but thanks to a French DS forum we get an early look at the new Crossback.
Despite Citroen’s best efforts to turn DS in to a luxury Citroen brand, the best-selling car by far for DS has been the DS 3, accounting for pushing on for 70 per cent of all DS sales to date (well, since Citroen revived the DS badge with the DS 3).That sales success is despite the DS 3 being a Hatch in a world where Crossovers and SUVs dominate sales, so what are DS to do?
The answer is simple – a Crossover take on the DS 3. And this is it – the new DS 3 Crossback – a bit ahead of Citroen’s planned debut of the new Crossback later today, thanks to images appearing on a French Forum.
Aimed to take a chunk of the market the Volvo XC40 has carved out, the DS 3 Crossback manages to translate the DS 3’s still appealing styling in to a high-riding Crossover, and it seems likely it will overtake the DS 3 in DS’s sales volumes when it goes on sale next year.
Expect to see a similar range of engine options to the DS 3 in the Crossback, although it does seem likely DS will launch the DS 3 Crossback later today with an E-Tense electric powertrain.
More later today.
