Well, you can tell Geneva’s delivered pretty much all it’s going to deliver when a ‘Limited Edition’ Volvo C70 is newsworthy! That’s a bit unfair, especially as it is ‘News’, but you get a bit spoiled when there’s lots of real new stuff going on.
But anyway, the Volvo C70 Ice White is based on the C70 Coupe/Convertible. and sports a 2.0 litre diesel engine, which manages to deliver 46.3mpg and 161g/km on the Co2 front. It’s performance is not exactly startling (11 seconds 0-60) but the healthy amount of torque from the diesel unit does make it feel livelier than the figures would suggest, at least around town.
The Ice White comes in at a reasonable £24,495, and comes equipped with a pretty impressive amount of kit, including Electronic Climate Control, DSTC and electric mirrors and windows, plus the usual plethora of Volvo acronyms for safety features.
The C70 is actually not a bad car. The clever 3-piece folding roof means the C70 isn’t lumbered with the usual ‘J-Lo Ass’ you find on most tin-top convertibles, and as a pleasent way to waft around in the sun for four it’s not bad at all. In fact, this limited edition is probably the pick of the bunch, as the more powerful versions aren’t actually that great to drive.
Not a bad summer pick.
