Volvo’s 60 Series models – S60, V60 and XC60 – with T8 plug-in hybrid powertrains get new Polestar Engineered range-topping models. Now on sale in the UK.
Polestar may now be a fully-fledged car maker in its own right, but Volvo aren’t giving up on using the Polestar name to indicate performance models any time soon.
That means there are now new range-topping models for the S6, V60 and XC60 ranges with the T8 Plug-n Hybrid powertrain dubbed ‘Polestar Engineered’ and sitting above the R-Design Pro versions. But there seems to be no sign of the ‘Recharge’ badge.
If you know Volvo’s Polestar models, you’ll know that increased power is not what it’s all about, but there is a bit of extra oomph on offer with an increase to 400bhp from the combined petrol and electric motors. pushing the S60 Polestar Engineered to 62mph in 4.4 seconds.
But it’s the other changes that make the Polestar models more appealing, with Brembo brakes for better stopping (Akebono on the XC60) and Öhlins adjustable shock absorbers for improved balance between precision and comfort as well as a strut bar across the front suspension, both borrowed from thye Polestar One.
Styling tweaks are subtle and include gold brake calipers, Polestar badges, black chrome trim, gold seatbelts and stitched instrument panel.
There’s extra kit over and above the R-Design Pro too with Harmon Kardon Sound and aluminium kick-plates, and metallic paint on the XC60.
On sale now, the S60 Polestar Engineered costs from £56,105, the V60 Polestar Engineered from £57,205 and the XC60 Polestar Engineered from £64,545. First UK customer cars will be delivered before the end of the year.
