Jaguar F-Pace break ‘loop the loop’ world record
The new Jaguar F-Pace was unveiled in Frankfurt with a stunt that broke the Guinness World Record for the largest loop the loop. Watch it on video.
In recent years, Jaguar Land Rover has strived to give their new cars a spectacular public debut, and the arrival of the new Jaguar F-Pace at the Frankfurt Motor Show was no different.
This time, Jaguar subjected the F-Pace – and its driver, Terry Grant – to extremes of ‘G’ with a stunt which managed to pull-off the largest loop the loop on record, pulling forces of 6.5g in the process and taking a Guinness World Record.
Professional driver Terry Grant spent two months getting used to the g-force he would have to endure – greater forces than a Space Shuttle pilot – and JLR may months, and the help of a team of structural engineers, mathematicians and safety experts, to make sure all went to plan.
Fiona Pargeter, JLR’s Global PR Director, said:
The F-PACE is a family car that is fast, fun and full of charisma, so completing the world’s largest loop the loop was the perfect reveal moment. The F-PACE is packed full of innovative technology and features the world’s most-advanced in-car entertainment system, matched with super-fast wifi connectivity. Customers are going to go loopy for the Jaguar F-PACE.
It’s a convincing demonstration that the F-Pace can cope with extreme forces, but we do wonder how much further JLR are going to have to go with future launches to make their point as dramatically.
