2011 Nissan GT-R: GT-R EGOIST & GT-R Club Track Editions added

October 19, 2010 By Cars UK

The Nissan GT-R 2011

2011 Nissan GT-R - arrives in February 2011

Nissan has released details of the 2011 Nissan GT-R, which include more power and two new models – the GT-R EGOIST & GT-R Club Track edition.

It may be that Nissan are following the Porsche 911 school of car updates by making endless changes to a car that ends up looking the same – the 2011 Nissan GT-R. But they also seem to be heading relentlessly down the 911 route in terms of model variations too. For 2011 there are two new models – the EGOIST and the Club Track edition, which we didn’t know when we first reported details of the 2011 GT-R in August.

Despite looking almost identical to the 2010 GT-R, there are a number of cosmetic differences. Inside there are some carbon fibre trim bits added and a new instrument panel. The exterior gets LED lights in the front strakes, new bumpers front and rear with larger vents and a bigger diffuser. These changes manage to increase downforce by 10%.

But it’s the oily bits – as you would hope – that get the most attention. Some judicious tweaking of the GT-R’s brain has managed to squeeze an extra 38 horses from the GT-R’s (now 523bhp) and torque also increases to 451lb/ft. Nissan has also decided to fit a glowing red cover to the engine to mark it out as a red-hot 2011 version.

The suspension has also had a tweak (although we do wonder how much better it can actually get). It’s been retuned – and a had a strut brace fitted – and there are new 20″ Rays which house redesigned discs which will fade less and last longer.

All these changes get applied to the standard spec Nissan GT-R and to the SpecV. But we also get a couple of new editions, the Club Track edition and the EGOIST. The Club Track has been developed for track events and will get some competion type mods, although at this stage we don’t know what.

The GT-R EGOIST (which we did think was going to be the GT-R SpecM) is Nissan’s ‘Luxury’ version of the GT-R. It gets a chunk of the bits from the SpecV – carbon fibre wing, Rays alloys and titanium exhaust – and gets a bespoke, quilted leather interior by Germany’s Seton Company (if that makes any difference to you). And, like the SpecV, it’s not exactly value for money compared to the standard GT-R.

In Japan the standard GT-R – the GT-R Pure edition – comes in at 8,694,000 Yen (about £65.5k). The EGOIST comes in at a rather painful £116.5k and the SpecV at £122.25k.

Nissan hasn’t decided yet if the UK and Europe are to get the Club Track and EGOIST, although it seems likely. But they’ll have to decide soon as the 2011 GT-R goes on sale in February 2011.

We’ve shoved up the 2011 Nissan GT-R press release so you can have a look at all the minute detail of Nissan’s 2011 tweaks to the GT-R, and there’s a 2011 GT-R photo gallery below. Please note that we got the press release from Nissan in Japan, as Nissan UK hasn’t yet released details. But bar the prices in Yen there shouldn’t be too much difference.
