Volvo US has revealed a power boost for the Volvo S60 T6 and XC60 T6 R-Design, which will get an extra 25bhp and a raft of tweaks for the 2012MY.
We’re quite partial to the Volvo S60 (actually, we’re even more partial to the Volvo V60) and we like how Volvo’s R-Design pack makes a real impact without making the car look like a boy racer’s wet dream.
What’s also nice – in this age of parsimony – is that even if you opt for a lowly diesel version you can still have a Volvo that looks like it gets there in a hurry, even if it doesn’t.
But our preference is always for a bit more power, especially if all the visual cues make you smile in anticipation, so we have been know to bemoan the lack of any sort of power boost – even as an add-on option – on Volvo’s R-Design cars.
Thankfully Volvo – at least in the US – have heard our cries and tweaked the 2012 T6 versions of the S60 R-Design and XC60 R-Design to produce a little more get up an go. Well, an extra 25 horses worth, anyway. Which may not make the S60 frighten AMG – but it’s a start.
Sadly, it doesn’t look as if Volvo will be offering the extra power on the V60 T6, but even more sadly there’s no news of the slightly warmer Volvo’s being available in the UK or Europe.
We asked Volvo if the more powerful S60 and XC60 were going to be avilable in the UK and Europe, but they said they have no information at the moment. So probably not, then.
Which is a big shame.

Should have been at least 350 BHP & the V60 should get the power boost too.
