2015 Jaguar XF prices & specs – costs from £32,300
It’s just a week since the new Jaguar XF was revealed with a high-wire stunt over the Thames, but now it’s in New York for its ‘proper’ reveal and Jaguar has also revealed prices and specs for its newest model.
Jaguar has decided that ‘Prestige’ is a suitable name for an entry-level trim – the next rungs up are R-Sport and Portfolio for the Ingenium-engined cars – and the 163PS engine is the entry-level unit.
But the XF 2.0d 163PS does offer 71.7mpg and 104g/km on the official figures, which does compare favourably with cars like the BMW 518d with 63mpg and 119g/km, thanks to some significant weight-shedding on the new XF, and its slippery shape.
Move up from the basic 161bhp engine to the 2.0d 18oPS and the prices start to go up, with the higher output engine costing an extra £500 on the Prestige model, and an automatic gearbox adding another£1750.
In fact, as you make your way through the Ingenium-engined XF range, the price moves inexorably upwards until you’re paying £39,050 for the XF 2.0d 180ps Portfolio Auto. But that still compares quite well with the competition.
Beyond the Ingenium engined XFs, you can also have either the 3.0d 300PS S or the 3.0i V6 S/C S, basically the diesel and petrol sporty XFs. Both cost the same £49,950 – a bit more than the starting point for the BMW 535d or 535i.
The 3.0d V6 now has 25bhp more, can get to 60mph in 5.8 seconds and return 51.4mpg. That’s not quite BMW levels – the 535d gets to 62mph in 5.3s and returns 57.6mpg – but impressive nonetheless.
The 3.0 litre petrol Supercharged V6 – basically the same engine you’ll find in the F-Type and new XE – delivers 380PS and can get to 60mph in 5.1 seconds (Jaguar, and Land Rover, will persist in quoting o-60mph when everyone else does 0-62mph), a bit quicker than the BMW 535i.
All the new XF range get better quality interiors than the current model and more technology, and look very appealing.
They have more space inside, the option of a new manual gearbox, improved economy and performance, new 10.2″ Touchscreen Infotainment with InControl Touch Pro, reconfigurable 12.3″ TFT instruments, All-Surface Progress Control for slippery conditions and plenty of toys like Adaptive Cruise and semi-automated parking.
The 2015 Jaguar XF is now available to order from Jaguar’s UK dealers.
