The new Mercedes C 63 AMG – and AMG estate – have been revealed ahead of a Paris Motor Show debut with the new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 and up to 503bhp.

It’s nine months since the new Mercedes C-Class was revealed, and it’s a cracker. But if the regular C-Class leaves you feeling a bit underpowered you now have the option of the BMW M3-bashing 2015 Mercedes C 63 AMG for some real get up and go.
And the similarities don’t stop there, as the new C63 gets the same 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 as the GT, and it comes in two power option – the 469bhp for the C 63 and a more potent 503bhp version in the S model.
And, just like the AMG GT, the performance figures are impressive.
The standard C 63 gets to 62mph in 4.1 seconds (4.2s in the Estate) and the more potent S manages to shave 0.1 off those times (we’d have expected a bit better for an extra 34bhp).
There’s also a huge lump of torque – 479lb/ft – available from just 1750rpm, despite which the C 63 Saloon comes with official economy of 34.5mpg and emissions of 192g/km (although if you manage better than half that in the real world you should have saved your money and bought a diesel C-Class).
Under the skin there’s a custom steering set-up, wider tracks, new springs and dampers, bigger brakes and more butch roll bars to offer the promise of excellent driving dynamics plus you can spend more and get ceramic brakes, an alomst track suspension set-up and an AMG exhaust system.
The usual AMG cosmetic tweaks arrive too to signal the C 63’s intent, with a more sport grill and bumpers, quad tail pipes, side sills, wider weheel arches and a boot spoiler with the interior getting AMG Performance seats, flat-bottomed AMG steering wheel and a spinkling of AMG badges.
All four version of the new C63 – the C63 Saloon and estate and the C 63 S saloon and estate – will get their public debut at the Paris Motor Show next week and go on sale soon after.
First UK deliveries (for the saloon) are expected in early 2015 and prices look set to start at a smidge under £60,000.
