The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are about as good as SUVs get, but that’s not stopping Land Rover upping the offering for 2015 with extra technology and improved engines, in addition to the 2015 improvements that arrived a few months ago.
The SDV6 in the Range Rover Sport (which sadly isn’t an option in the full-sized Range Rover) also gets tweaked to deliver an extra 74lb/ft of torque (it now has 516lb/ft) and improved economy of 40.4mpg and 187g/km.
Technology updates include All-Terrain Progress Control (which is a £175 option) which allows you to set an off-road speed (between 1mph and 19mph) which will then be maintained whilst the existing automatic Terrain response is busy pushing the right amount of grip to the right wheel.
There’s also a new heads-up display (an option that costs £1,000) which can display Speed, Gears, Cruise info, SatNav instructions and Traffic Signs helping drivers keep their eye on the road.
Phil Popham, JLR MD, said:
Range Rover and Range Rover Sport offer an unrivalled combination of performance, efficiency, design leadership and off-road capability,’ says Phil Popham, Group Marketing Director, Jaguar Land Rover.
Our latest updates capitalise on these strengths, with our ground-breaking new All Terrain Progress Control, along with extra-efficient six-cylinder engines, which underline Land Rover’s commitment to sustainability.
The new technology in the Range Rover and Sport may mean you have to dig in to the options list, but the improvements to the TDV6 and SDV6 come at no extra cost.
The 2015 models are now available to order, when you can also spec a new colour – Yulong White.

Any news on whether the new single turbo TDV6 will be put into the Discovery too?
Cars UK says
We haven’t heard anything yet, but as the new Discovery 5 probably won’t arrive until 2016 it does seem likely Land Rover will want to increase its appeal with an updated engine. But the SDV6 in the Disco (the only engine available in the UK) currently offers a quite lowly 256bhp, not the more fulsome output of the SDV6 in the RRS.
