2016 Infiniti Q50 gets new 3.0 litre V6 engine

The Infiniti Q50 – Infiniti’s answer to cars like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class – gets a raft of updates for 2016 including a new 395bhp V6 engine.

Infiniti are busy tryimg to gain more traction in the UK car market with smaller ‘Premium’ cars like the Q30 and QX30, but they’re not forgetting about the cars they had before they put an Infiniti skin on the Mercedes A Class. So we’re getting a revised Infiniti Q50 for 2016.

The Q50 is Infiniti’s answer to cars like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C-Class and Jaguar XE, but until now there’s been nothing to compare to the performance models from the market leaders.

But now Infiniti has decided to offer the Q50 with a new 3.0 litre V6 Turbo petrol offering 395bhp which, although not enough to challenge cars like the M3, will give Infiniti a credible challenge to the ‘almost M’ and ‘almost AMG’ models from Mercedes and BMW.

Elsewhere, the Q50 retains the current 2.0 litre turbo petrol, 2.2 litre diesel and 3.5 litre hybrid engine options.

The Q50 is also getting a new steering system which, although an electronic one, is said to give feedback and feel akin to a conventional power steering rack and comes with a choice of Eco, Standard, Sport and Snow modes.

There’s also and Adaptive Dynamic Digital Suspension setup on offer which adapts to inputs to keep body roll in check.

The new 2016 Infiniti Q50 goes on sale in the UK in the New Year.
