2017 Porsche Panamera (pictured) to debut at Paris Motor Show
The new Porsche Panamera is on its way and will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and go on sale in Europe and the UK before the year end.
It’s seven years since the Porsche Panamera first arrived in a lift in China, as Porsche delivered a four-door saloon car to extend its range to a new audience. And now it’s time for a new Porsche Panamera.
But this is Porsche, and despite the new Panamera sitting on the new MSB platform – which will be shared with Bentley and Lamborghini – don’t expect the new Panamera to look radically different to the current car.
Recent spy shots (above) show a Panamera that looks more like a facelift than a new model, with tweaked styling and new front and rear ends and, we expect, a new interior featuring digital instruments.
What we’re also expecting – although it may not happen at the new Panamera’s launch in Paris – is the arrival of a second model in the range – the Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake.
Previewed by the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept in 2012, the Shooting Brake addresses the biggest complaints about the Panamera (its ‘dog humping’ back end) and delivers a Panamera that looks truly appealing.
Under the skin it’s rumoured the new Panamera will feature new V6 and V8 engines – sourced from Audi – offering more power and more performance which, with a weight drop of up to 100kg thanks to the new platform, should make the new Panamera very quick.
The arrival of the new Panamera – and a Shooting Brake version too – should help Porsche regain, and improve, on Panamera sales, which peaked at 29,000 in 2012 but are now little more than half that.
