2018 Hyundai Santa Fe goes on sale in the UK
The new Hyundai Santa Fe – Hyundai’s largest SUV – will go on sale in the UK on 1 September 2018, with prices starting from £33,425.
If you have a family with more than the 2.2 children average – and even if you haven’t – the Hyundai Santa Fe is a very good choice for ferrying your family and its stuff around. And this year it’s got better still with a new Santa Fe, and it will go on sale in the UK on 1 September costing from £33,425.
With new exterior styling clearly influenced by the Kona, including cascading grille, an interior which has been re-worked to be more appealing and upmarket, and new equipment and safety stuff, it sets out an appealing stall against competition from cars like the Nissan X-Trail and Kia Sorento.
It seems engine options for the Santa Fe in the UK are just the 2.2 litre diesel we’re used to (other markets get a 2.0 litre diesel and 2.0 litre petrol option too), although it’s been tweaked with SCR and NOx trap, with 197bhp and either six-speed manual of eight-speed automatic.
That new eight-speed auto ‘box will improve engine response and control, say Hyundai, thanks to its drive mode logic which will stop it changing gears when cornering briskly, and dropping gears for engine braking when you need to brake hard.
Also improves is the 4WD system, with the new HTRAC system offering manual control of torque distribution with Sport, Comfort and Eco modes, as well as a 4WD lock for slow speeds on rough stuff.
All versions of the new Santa Fe come with seven seats, roof rails, parking sensors, rear view camera, privacy glass and climate, as well as heated front seats, cruise, auto lights and wipers, DAB, CarPlay and Android Auto, Lane Keep, AEB and smart high beam.
Starting point is the £33,425 SE 2.2 CRDi with 2WD and six-speed manual which comes with 17″ alloys, and if you opt for the eight-speed auto you get Smart Cruise and an electric parking brake too.
Premium trim costs from £36,995 and throws in 18″ alloys, keyless, LED headlights, electric front seats, heated seats, leather, Krell Sound, Blind Spot and Brake Assist. The Premium model can also be had with 4WD as a manual or auto (£38,995 and £40,795 respectively).
The range-topping Santa Fe Premium SE starts at £41,795 for the 2WD auto (no manual option on this model) and £43,595 for the 4WD auto, adding 19″ alloys, panoramic roof, ventilated front seats with driver’s memory, HUD and around view.
Colour options for the new Santa Fe are Phantom Black, White Cream, Lava Orange, Horizon Red, Stormy Sea, Typhoon Silver, Magnetic Force, Earthy Bronze and Rain Forest. All but the Red will cost you an extra £575.
The new Hyundai Santa Fe goes on sale in the UK on 1 September.
