2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV arrives in the UK
The UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid – the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – gets updated for 2019, including more power, and is now on sale in the UK from £34,255.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid, and Mitsubishi’s biggest European market for the PHEV, thanks in no small part to its competitive price and very friendly BIK rates. But Mitsubishi aren’t resting on their laurels with the Outlander, so it gets a raft of updates for 2019 and is now on sale in the UK.
Under the bonnet sits a new 2.4 litre petrol engine with 133bhp (up from the previous 2.0 litre with 119bhp) and 155lb/ft of torque (up by 15lb/ft) as well as a more powerful 94bhp electric motor and a battery pack with 10 per cent greater output.
That all adds up to a livelier Outlander, and, despite new WLTP figures, still comes with a bonkers official economy of 139mpg and 46g/km CO2 emissions.
The oily bits get a further fettling with revised shocks for improved low speed ride, a new Sport Mode with sharper responses, revised steering and ECU, bigger front brakes and a new Snow Mode.
Mitsubishi also say the new Outlander is more refined too, with more supportive front seats, new switchgear and titivated instrument cluster, as well as updated bumpers, grille, roof spoiler and new two-tone 18″ alloys.
There’s also Smartphone Link with CarPlay and Android Auto, pre-heat for the HVAC, Climate, Keyless’ LED running lights and brake hold on the entry-level Juro.
Spend more (£37,000) for the Outlander PHEV 4h and you’ll also get 360 camera, Blind Spot, Rear Cross Traffic electric driver’s seat, power tailgate, LED lights and heated steering wheel, with the PHEV 4hs (£39,100) adding a raft of safety stuff like Adaptive Cruise, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam and all-round parking sensors.
The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is now on sale at Mitsubishi’s UK dealers.
