2020 Mercedes GLA
The 2020 Mercedes GLA will be revealed next week, ahead of which Mercedes are back with another tease to show us the new GLA is roomy and versatile.
Is the Mercedes GLA an SUV? Well, in its current form, it’s much more of a high-riding hatch than an SUV, even if Mercedes like to consider it one of its vast number of SUV models. But there’s a new GLA on the way, and you might have thought Mercedes would be making it even more of a high-riding Hatch as they now have the GLB to fill the ‘A-Class SUV’ niche. But not a bit of it.
In fact, the new GLA, teased last month, will actually be more of an SUV than the current model, with an extra few inches of ride height and a much more SUV look. Apparently, it’ll be more dynamic than the GLB, which is the differentiator. Call us confused.
Perhaps another differentiator between the GLA and GLB could be the amount of room inside, but although the GLB offers seven seats and the new GLA just five, those five seats will come with much more room than before – especially in the back – thanks to a stretched wheelbase, although the overall length of the GLA will change little.
That’s the gist of Mercedes’ latest tease for the new GLA (photo below) to show that the back seats in the new GLA will not only split 40:20:40 but slide back and forward to give the right balance for load carrying and passenger legroom. Just like the GLB.
All will be revealed when the new Mercedes GLA debuts next week (11 December 2019).
