The new Aston Martin One-77 - made by CPP Manufacturing
CPP (Manufacturing) Ltd are to take over production of Spyker Cars. But who are they, and what other cars do they build?
Earlier today we ran a story on Spyker relocating manufacturing to the UK. Not to a new manufacturing plant owned and operated by Spyker, but to the home of CPP Manufacturing Ltd in Coventry. And although CPP rang a bell, we thought we’d have a quick nose around and see what exactly the move to CPP is going to mean for Spyker cars. And it looks good. Very good.
CPP Manufacturing (which stands for Coventry Prototype Panels) is one of those hidden gems of the motor world. A company run by MD Brendan O’Toole it has in-house what are considered to be one of the best skill sets in the UK. So why haven’t you heard of CPP Manufacturing? Probably because they work on cars that you wouldn’t associate with anyone but the maker.
Does the Aston Martin One-77 ring a bell? Guess who puts it together for Aston Martin? That’s right, CPP Manufacturing. Wonder who makes one-off specials for people like Bentley? Right again – CPP. The list goes on (and isn’t even limited to car makers, such is their skill set), so if you had any worries that a seemingly unknown company taking over building Spyker Cars could create quality issues – think again.
In fact it seems highly likely that we’ll end up seeing Spyker cars coming out of the factory with build quality standards higher than they currently do. In effect CPP already makes Spykers and ships them to Holland as CKD (Complete Knock Down) for Spyker to bolt together. By cutting out that process it seems likely that Spyker will enjoy the luxury of cars heading for customers built to the same standards as Bentley and Aston Martin.

Very impressive article. I’ve come across CPP before and their enthusiasm and attitude is superb. They make some of the best cars in the world and some of the design art they make is breath taking Spyker are in safe hands here.
