It’s starting to get close to one of the major motoring events in the UK calendar – the Goodwood Festival of Speed – which runs this year from July 2nd to July 4th. So more news.
We’ve had a number of teases in the last few months for the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the Dougie Lampkin video trailer and the news that the Goodwood Moving Motor Show will take place in the run up to The Goodwood Festival .
But to keep us all nice and warm for Goodwood we get regular teasers, and these will probably ramp up in the next few weeks. Latest news is the ‘Star’ quotient for Goodwood, something that does encourage visitors. Perhaps not the real petrol-heads – they’d come anyway – but a name or two may encourage the other half to be up for an event the may otherwise be ambivelant about.
To make it easy, Goodwood say:
- Goodwood can already confirm over 80 drivers and riders for the 2010 Festival of Speed
- Over 20 World Champions are due to attend, with more than 70 world championship titles between them, representing a variety of motor sport disciplines
- A strong gathering of British Formula One World Champions will be in attendance, including Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Sir Jackie Stewart and John Surtees
To expand a bit, the names include Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg, Bruno Senna, Emerson Fittipaldi, Sir Jackie Stewart, Mika Hakkinen, John Surtees, Sir Stirling Moss, Jochen Mass, Patrick Tambay, Miki Biasion, Guy Wilks, Rauno Aaltonen, Jimmy McRae, Russell Brookes, Björn Waldegård, Markko Martin, Giacomo Agostini, Kevin Schwantz, Chaz Davies, Neil Hodgson,Trevor Nation, Dougie Lampkin, Michael Waltrip and Bobby Unser.
You may bump in to one or more. Although you’re unlikely to find yourself standing next to them in the Gents.
