Jaguar revealed the 2011 Jaguar XKR-S at Geneva and we have video of the fastest production car ever from Jaguar, on the road and on the track.
There was a time – not so very long ago – that Jaguar wouldn’t have been ‘allowed’ to build the barnstorming Jaguar XKR-S. It would have been seen as just too good. Too much of a threat. To whom, you may ask? To Aston Martin, of course.
For the whole of Ford’s stewardship of Jaguar there was a clear hierarchy, and that hierarchy put Jaguar very firmly in second place to Aston Martin. Which must have been incredibly frustrating for Jaguar’s engineers.
To know that however good the product they developed it would always have to play bridesmaid to AM’s bride. But no more. Jaguar has become the bride.
And the 2011 Jaguar XKR-S is as clear a statement of intent as you could ask for. A range-topping, gloriously over the top supercar with performance to match the Aston Martin DBS – but at the right side of £100k instead of closing in on £200k.
We’ve sen the XKR-S on the floor at Geneva and in the photos we’ve already published. But now we have the XKR-S on video; on the track and on the road. It looks good, it sounds good and it does you good to see it in action. Actually, that sounds a lot like a pint of Guinness. All we need is ‘It tastes good’.
Which it very probably does.
