These car manufacturers do love to tease. One after another they come up with ways to ‘leak’ a little info, or present us with teaser images (like the Fiat 500C last week). And now Renault are playing the game ahead of the reveal of the Renaultsport Megane at Geneva in a few weeks.
Actually, this should be a car to be reckoned with. It’s Renault’s answer to the Focus RS, and looks like it will be a mean little hot hatch. It looks set to get some aggressive looks courtesy of the Trophy racer Renault showed at Paris last year.

New front end and big flared arches signal the Renaultsport Megane’s intentions, with a rear spoiler and big, central exhaust adding to the feel.
The new Megane looks set to get the engine out of the R26, with a few mods to give more torque, but the same 230bhp, which should see the Megane matching the Focus RS to sixty, in a shade under 6.0 seconds. And the Megane is good at putting its power down too, with a limited slip diff, and equally good at stopping with a meaty set of Brembos.
Looks like the Hot-Hatch sector is going to keep burning. In fact, it’s arguable that with a lot of belt-tightening going on, cars like the Megane and the Focus RS are going to benefit from downsizers. One things for sure – they’ll have a lot of fun.
