The Toyota GT86 Convertible – in the guise of the FT-86 Open Concept has arrived earlier than Toyota would like ahead of a Geneva debut.

The intrepid folks at FT86Club have managed to come up with photos of the FT-86 Open Concept (above) – and video – ahead of the official reveal by Toyota – and it looks pretty good.
As you would expect, the FT-86 looks just like the GT86 with the roof chopped off – it even keeps the back seats – although Toyota has obviously titivated the FT-86 with plenty of goodies.
They include a new set of wheels and an upmarket interior with two tone leather and what appears to be a Smartphone dock on the dashboard. The FT-86 gets an auto ‘box (although we doubt most production GT86 Convertibles will be so specced) and the convertible hood is electrically operated.
Under the bonnet is likely to be the same four-cylinder 2.0 litre engine as the GT86, but if (or when) the GT86 gets some form of forced induction it seems likely the GT86 Convertible will too.
The Toyota GT86 Convertible – as the FT-86 Open Concept – will debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next week.
