Volkswagen has revealed that the 2013 Golf GTI MK 7 will cost from £25,845 – £195 up on the old GTI – with the GTi Performance from £26,825.

For the first time you’ll get a choice of power levels for the GTI, with the regular GTI getting a 2.0 litre TSI with 217bhp and the GTI Performance coming with 227bhp, gets bigger brake discs and a limited slip diff.
Performance from the regular GTI is 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 152mph, whilst the GTI Performance cuts that time by 0.1 seconds with both versions offering 44.1mpg official consumption with the six-speed manual ‘box.
The cosmetic changes that mark the GTI out as a hot Golf are the usual fodder, with a red stripe across the grille, red brake callipers, two chrome tailpipes, 18″ alloys, a rear diffuser, bigger side sills and smoked LED lights at the back.
Inside you still get the GTI Tartan trim (opt for the leather) with a black roof lining and red ambient lighting. You’ll also get Climate, a sports steering wheel, gearlever and instruments, touchscreen Infotainment and stainless steel pedals.
There’s the usual optional stuff too – in addition to the ‘Performance’ upgrade – with 19″ Santiago Alloys, Vienna Leather, Keyless, High Beam Assist Park Assist, rear view camera, SatNav and Adaptive Chassis Control amongst the desirable options you can add to your new GTI to make sure you spend a chunk more than the list price.
The VW Golf GTI costs £25,845 with the GTI Performance an additional £980 and VW’s UK dealers are now taking orders.

You reckoned £26,000 when you had the Euro prices in a couple of months ago, so well done! And at that price the GTI is pretty appealing. Even if I’d rather wait for a Mk 7 R with 4WD if I was going this route.
