Last week we asked why Porsche UK are refusing to compensate owners of the 911 GT3 in the UK who’ve been unable to use their cars after a ‘stop driving’ instruction from Porsche, even though GT3 owners in other countries are getting paid.
Porsche UK has agreed that dealers pay GT3 owners a £5,500 lump sum for the inconvenience and an additional £1500 a month for every month they’ve been unable to use their car.
Buyers of the GT3 who haven’t actually taken delivery, but whose car was shipped to the UK but not delivered because of the ‘no drive’ instruction, will get £4,000 off the list price and the same £1500 a month.
It’s a good result for the GT3 action group, led by Sunil Mehra, although there’s disappointment that those still waiting for their car to be built won’t get a payout.
But that would probably set a precedent that could come back to bite.
