Ferrari FXX K is Ferrari’s LaFerrari track monster

December 3, 2014 By Cars UK

The Ferrari FXX K has been revealed as the LaFerrari track special with a huge 1036bhp and advanced aerodynamics. Expected to cost over £2 million.

Just as they did with the FXX – the track day special based on the Enzo – Ferrari has created a track day special from LaFerrari – the Ferrari FXX K.

The Ferrari FXX K (the ‘K’ stands for Kinetic, as in ‘KERS’) isn’t designed to enter competition, but is a track day special for Ferrari’s most important (read wealthy) customers who can go and play at Ferrari track days around the world, with the FXX K also acting as a test bed for Ferrari development.

Under the skin, the FXX K gets the same 6.3 litre V12 as LaFerrari, but its output is raised to 848bhp (up from LaFerrari’s 789bhp) and an electric motor with 187bhp (LaFerrari 161bhp) for a combined total of 1036bhp and performance that should improve on LaFerrari’s already awesome abilities. It’ll also sound better than just about any other Ferrari as it dispenses with silencers on the exhaust.

LaFerrari’s modes have been tweaked for the FXX K, with ‘Quality’ giving the best the car can manage for a few quick laps, ‘Long Run’ making sure performance is extreme but sustainable over longer distances, ‘Manual Boost’ giving full torque when it’s needed and ‘Fast Charge’ using everything to re-charge the battery.

Visually, the FXX K takes LaFerrari’s looks to the extreme with a two layer splitter at the front, fins at the front to channel air more smoothly, find sticking out from the side sills and a dramatic twin wing setup at the back offering up to 50 per cent more downforce than LaFerrari.

The huge wheels get Pirelli Slicks complete with sensors to monitor longitudinal, lateral and radial acceleration as well as temperature and pressure to enable the traction control system to deliver maximum performance, and the E-Fiff, F1-Trac Control, Racing SCC and ABS can all be controlled from the steering wheel.

Ferrari hasn’t revealed how much the FXX K will cost – although it’s likely to be more than the £2 million Enzo FXX – but the FXX K really is one of those cars where if you have to ask the price you really couldn’t afford it. In any case, the FXX K is likely to be limited to just 30 cars, all going in to the hands of Ferrari’s most valued clients.
