It looks like any performance versions of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport won’t be full-fat SVR models as they’d be too expensive to be viable.

Land Rover Discovery Sport SVR looks a non-starter

It’s early in the life of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport, but with Jaguar Land Rover’s eyes on every niche, its not too much of a stretch to expect a performance version (or two) of the new Disco Sport at some point in the not too distant future.
The new Ingenium range consists of a variety of power outputs of 2.0 litre diesel and petrol lumps, but it also seems likely the Disco Sport may get something more powerful at some point to create a performance version.,
But what won’t happen – at least according to Murray Dietsch, the man in charge of the Evoque and Discovery Sport, in conversation with automotive.co.au – is an all-out SVR version of the Sport.
It seems SVR are keen to develop models that can command – and sell – at a premium price tag, and the idea of an Evoque or Sport with an SVR badge and a very big price tag doesn’t have real prospects.
That doesn’t mean we won’t be getting Sportier Sports and Sportier Evoques – there’s actually the 281bhp Evoque Autobiography Dynamic on its way at the moment – but it doesn’t look like an SVR Sport or Evoque will see the light of day.
