Land Rover currently have a three model Range Rover Range – the Evoque, the Sport and the Range Rover – but that will become four with a new model planned.

Land Rover has done very little wrong since Tata took the reins, and its Range Rover range has been the mainstay of its success.
In fact, if you look at the three car range, there are yawning gaps, especially between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Not just in terms of size, but in starting price too.
The cheapest you can get an Evoque for is just under £30k, and the cheapest RRS is twice as much – a whopping £60k – even for the entry-level model. And let’s face it, any of the German premium marques would squeeze at least half a dozen new models in that gap.
Land Rover aren’t about to do the same, but Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s design director, confirmed to Motoring in Australia that they are going to fill that white space.
The new Range Rover – which we’ll probably see as a concept in 2016 – could well be based on the new Discovery Sport‘s underpinnings and offer the luxury and sportiness of the RRS in a smaller package, but still with seven seats, and at a starting price which just might be around £45k. But that’s just a guess.
