New Jaguar F-Pace out playing with Team Sky in the Tour de France
The new Jaguar F-Pace Crossover/SUV is being used as a support car for Team Sky in the Tour de France, giving us a good look at the production F-Pace.
The Jaguar F-Pace – Jaguar’s take on what Land Rover do best, but is apparently a Crossover and not an SUV – is due to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in a couple of months, but Jaguar are getting it out in public before then. With only very slight camouflage, what Jaguar are calling a prototype F-Pace is being used as a support car for Team Sky’s Tour de France outing, so we get video of the F-Pace on-road as it works with the Team Sky Riders.
It’s an opportunity to show that the F-Pace looks dynamic on-road – can carry the support team with room to spare and carry all their stuff in the boot. In other words, the F-Pace isn’t just dynamic, it’s practical too.
Jaguar has clothed the F-Pace in a special wrap depicting carbon textures, rubber and chains (don’t ask) as well as the team Sky design to try and hide the F-Pace’s design detail. But as far as we can see nothing has changed massively from the C-X17 Concept. Which is good.
When the F-Pace does arrive in Frankfurt, we’ll get details of what’s under the skin, but you can be pretty sure it’s 4WD and most of the same engine options the new Jaguar XE gets, including the new Ingenium four-pot engines and a 3.0 litre V6 Supercharged petrol.
