Toyota Land Cruiser V8 departs the UK due to poor sales
Toyota has quietly announced that the Land Cruiser V8 – which replace the Land Cruiser Amazon in 2008 – will no longer be sold in the UK.
If you want a big bruiser of an old-fashioned SUV, the Toyota Land Cruiser V8 – which replaced the more appropriately named Land Cruiser Amazon in 2008 – is probably the very best choice.Built like a tank, the size of a cruise ship and with the ability to take piles of stuff and piles of people to places no car should go, the Land Cruiser V8 may not be the most dynamic car on the road, but it certainly has bags of appeal.
Sadly, not too many UK buyers feel the same and are instead opting for SUVs with more sophistication on-road, and more toys to play with, and with a list price of almost £66k it’s going up against cars like the Mercedes GL, is more expensive than even the most expensive Land Rover Discovery, and not much cheaper than an entry-level Range Rover.
All of which has conspired to make UK sales of the appealing V8 too low to be viable, and Toyota UK has quietly revealed the Land Cruiser V8 will no longer be available in the UK.
And in more bad news for Toyota SUV lovers, the new Land Cruiser 200 – just launched in Japan with a slight redesign and much update tech – won’t be offered in the UK either.
Not a good week for Toyota SUVs.
