VW Golf Cabriolet gets a very minor makeover for 2016
The VW Golf Cabriolet is being updated for 2016 to make it look a but more sporty and a bit more appealing, with new colours and better interior.
The Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet is a bit of an oddball car, and one VW don’t seem entirely committed to, despite it’s potential. In fact, so disinterested do Volkswagen seem in the Cabrio Golf that they haven’t bothered to update it much; the current Golf Cabriolet is actually a Golf Mk 6, despite the Golf MK 7 having been with us for three years, and there really doesn’t seem to be any interest in delivering a MK 7 version of the Golf Cabriolet at all.
That means soldiering on with the MK 6 Cabrio, and to that end VW has given it a titivate for 2016, but it’s a makeover you’ll struggle to spot, and seems as half-hearted as VW’s interest in the car.
Volkswagen tell us the changes are easy to spot, with a sporty front bumper, new side sills and sport accents on the back bumper, as well as six new alloy wheel designs. Frankly, we’re struggling to see much difference.
Also new is an extra soft-top colour, new steering wheel, new trim elements as well as new designs for the cloth and leather upholstery. New options include VW’s Discover Media
The changes come on top of VW’s EU6 engine upgrade earlier this year, and do at least keep the Golf Cabrio viable. But it’s based on a seven year old car, sales aren’t brilliant and VW don’t seem to have much interest.
So why not put the Golf Cabrio out of its misery?
