Price and specification details for the 2013 VW Golf MK 7 have been revealed for the UK. Starts at £16,300.

Starting point is the Golf S 3-door with the 1.2 litre TSI engine the 84bhp at just £16,330 (less than the same MK 6 model), with a choice of both 3 and five door models across the range and three trim levels – S, SE and GT (the MK 7 Golf GTI won’t arrive until next year).
The petrol engines for the MK 7 Golf are the 1.2 litre TFSI (85PS), 1.2 litre TSI (105PS), 1.4 litre TSI (122PS) and the new 1.4 litre TSI with 140PS and Active Cylinder Technology. Diesel options are more limited, with just two engines on offer, the 1.6 litre TDI with 105PS and the 2.0 litre TDI with 150PS.
Stop-Start is standard across the range and gearboxes are a mix of 5 and 6 speed manuals and 6 and 7 speed DSG ‘boxes depending on model and choice.
As well as stop-start, there’s ABS and ESP, XDS electronic diff and seven airbags across the range, with the new Golf S getting a 5.8″ Multimedia touchscreen with DAB, CD, MP3 connectivity, Bluetooth and semi-auto AirCon.
The new Golf SE adds in ADC (automatic distance control), auto lights and wipers, Pre-Crash, Driver Profile, Stainless Steel decorative trim, better upholstery, 16″ alloys, black radiator grill and leather for the steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake.
The top of the range (for now) Golf GT gets 17″ alloys, front fogs with chrome trim, privacy glass, Cherry Red tail lights, folding mirrors, parking sensors with interior embellishments including gloss black trim inserts, sports seats LED reading lights and ambient lighting.

The 2013 VW Golf MK 7 goes on sale on 18th October with UK customer deliveries expected to start in January 2013.
