Jeremy Clarkson flogs the Amazon Fire Stick
Jeremy Clarkson is about to pop up on TV screens promoting Amazon’s Fire TV Stick, taking a swipe at the BBC and his Top Gear ‘Fracas’ in the process.
It’s been an interesting year for Top Gear, with a new series at the start of the year – Series 22 – and Clarkson, Hammond and May about sign another contract with the BBC. But then the wheels fell of the Top Gear juggernaut. In a fit of pique, Clarkson lamped TG producer Oison Tymon in a North Yorkshire hotel after he failed to get a hot meal after a long day filming, the Beeb suspended him – and ultimately let him go – and Hammond and May followed.
Chris Evans was handed the gig for Top Gear a few months later, and Clarkson, Hammond and May signed a contract with Amazon Prime to make a ‘New New’ Top Gear for their online service.
In a three year contract said to be worth £160 million – and as much as half of that going to the TG amigos – the trio seemed to have landed on their feet – financially, at least.
But there’s a price to pay too for the trio, and getting in to bed with Amazon appears to have a price – promoting the wares of Amazon – and Jeremy Clarkson is the first of the three called to make his debut as an Amazon salesman with this, an advert for the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
But anything with Clarkson wouldn’t be credible without an edge, so we see Jeremy floating round a house on a Segway, telling viewers that “Back in the Spring, as you probably remember, I suddenly became unbusy” – in a reference to his sacking – and the goes on to demonstrate all the channels available on the Fire Stick, managing to skip past the BBC iPlayer without actually naming it.
Surprisingly, Clarkson gets away with being an Amazon salesman with most of his dignity intact.

Another good reason NOT to get FireTV (stick or otherwise!)
