Top Gear is back with a new series (Series 22 Episode 1) with the Lamborghini Huracan, racing through St Petersburg and Ed Sheeran as SIARPC.
Top Gear returns tonight (25 January 2015) with episode 1 of series 22, and it looks promising.
The main item tonight is a return to the format that saw Messrs Clarkson, Hammond, May and Stig use different forms of transport to get from one side of London to the other in rush hour (which was back in 2007), but this time the challenge is in the Russian city of St Petersburg.
The St Petersburg race (photo above) sees Clarkson once again taking to a river – this time in a hovercraft – May using the car – only this time it’s a Renault Twizy EV instead of a big Mercedes GL SUV – Hammond gets the short-straw with a bike and The Stig once more uses public transport.
Car testing this week focuses on the new Lamborghini Huracan, with Hammond trying to discover if the Lambo is the match of its main competitors – the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 650S – on track at Dunsfold.
This week’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is singer songwriter Ed Sheeran, who attempts to set a time on the Top Gear track at Dunsfold despite never having been behind the wheel of a car before. Which should prove interesting.
Top Gear Series 22 Episode 1 airs in the UK tonight (25 January 2015) at 8pm, and interestingly will also air around the world at exactly the same time to stop pirated airing in countries that normally have to wait.
So that means Top Gear for Breakfast in Australia, Top Gear for lunch in Los Angeles and Top Gear for afternoon tea in New York.
