With the new Volvo S90 revealed – and due for its public debut next month – Volvo is showcasing its impressive interior in a new video.
The new Volvo S90 was revealed earlier this month as an effective replacement for the S80, and challenger to cars like the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF, and is due to get its public debut at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show in a few weeks time. We’ve already seen a number of videos of the new S90 – driving, design and reveal – and it looks very impressive (apart, perhaps, from the slightly ungainly back end).
But to make the S90 a real challenger in the premium market, it needs a USP. And the S90’s USP is its Swedish take on luxury, and in particular the Swedish take on interior luxury.
Just as they have with the new XC90, Volvo has ploughed its own furrow with the interior of the S90, and it looks very, very good.
Just how good is made clear in this new video from Volvo (below), which highlights the S90’s cabin, with its big central tablet display, bleached woods, low clutter and high quality materials. It’s an impressive look.
Whether it will be enough to make the S90 a real challenger remains to be seen, but the design – especially the interior – and its range of fuel-efficient 2.0 litre Drive E engines, and perhaps especially the S90 T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid, promise much.
