New Ford Edge SUV costs from £29,995 in the UK

The new Ford Edge SUV – Ford’s new big brother to the Kuga and EcoSport – costs from £29,995 in the UK, rising to £36,745. Now on sale.
A larger SUV from Ford is something of a gamble, but the Edge does offer a lot for the money compared to similar-sized SUVs from premium makers, although its starting price is only a bit less than the strong competition from the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The looks of the Edge are quite North American – which may hinder sales – although the interior seems to be up to European standards, and the level of equipment on offer is decent enough.
Engine options for the Edge are the 2.0 litre diesel with either 180PS and a manual gearbox or a 210PS version with Ford’s six-speed Powershift auto ‘box, with all models getting four-wheel drive.
Trim options are Zetec (from £29,995), Titanium (from £32,245) and Sport (from £34,495), with both engines available on Titanium and Sport, but only the 180PS version on the Zetec model.
All models come with all-wheel drive, Active Noise Control, Pedestrian Detection, DAB with SYNC 2, privacy glass and 19″ alloys, with Titanium and Sport models also getting heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats. The new Ford Edge is now on sale at Ford’s UK dealers, with first customer cars due in the summer.
