Is the Spyker B6 Venator about to become an electric car?

Victor Muller’s Spyker is a surprise exhibitor at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks, and the general consensus is that means the debut of an electric Spyker.

Victor Muller’s escapades over the last few years – including his Saab adventure – have pretty much left him back where he was: running Spyker, a car maker that doesn’t relish actually making cars.

As you’d expect with Victor Muller, there’s been plenty of bullish statements about where Spyker is going in the future, and we have seen the very good looking Spyker B6 Venator at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013, and even the B6 Venator Spyder at Pebble Beach a few months later.

But after trying to tempt investors with the promise of a cheap B6 Venator – a plan that failed – Spyker went bust, but for Victor Muller that was just a small hiccup, and a few months later the bankruptcy was overturned by Dutch courts.

The next instalment in the ‘Adventure of Victor Muller’ was the announcement in July 2015 that Spyker was merging with electric aircraft maker Volta Volare, was debt free and planning to make electric cars.

It seemed likely the merger would mean an electric future for Spyker, and now it’s been revealed that Spyker has a stand at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks time which, we assume, can only mean one thing – the first look at an electric Spyker.

It seems unlikely Victor Muller has managed to start from scratch with a new electric car, so we’re guessing the B6 Venator will be rolled out once again – as either a coupe of convertible – complete with either a full battery electric powertrain, or maybe as a plug-in hybrid.

Just don’t expect the Spyker EV to go on sale any time soon.
