The Vauxhall Mokka X (and Opel Mokka X) is a facelift for the Mokka which also gets Vauxhall’s new ‘X’ designation for SUVs and Crossovers. Debuts at Geneva.

It’s almost four years since the Vauxhall Mokka went on sale in the UK, so it’s getting a bit of a facelift for 2016, and a new name – the Vauxhall Mokka X.

The ‘X’ is the new Vauxhall (and Opel) designation for all things SUV and Crossover, and the new Mokka is the first to wear the badge as it gets a cosmetic makeover – inside and out – new technology and a new engine option.

Most of the visual differences for the Mokka X are going on at the front, with an up to date Vauxhall family look arriving with a new grill, a tidier look than before and new Adaptive Forward Lighting LED headlights.

Inside, there’s a dose of the new Astra going on with a big touchscreen, fewer buttons, Piano Black trim and the addition of Apple Car Play, Android Auto and OnStar, including Sat Nav and a 4g wireless hotspot.

Under the bonnet, the new Mokka X can now be had with Vauxhall’s 1.4 litre petrol turbo (already seen in the new Astra) which, when combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive, can return official economy of 42.8mpg.

The new Vauxhall Mokka X gets its first public outing at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks before going on sale in the UK later in the year.
