The Lexus LC 500h Hybrid – debuiing at Geneva

The Lexus LC 500h has been revealed ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show complete with the next generation Lexus hybrid powertrain.

The Lexus LC 500 was finally revealed as a production model last month, complete with the V8 engine from the GS F. But now we get the LC which defines Lexus (and Toyota) – the Lexus LC 500h Hybrid – heading for a debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

In all the ways that matter – which is really how the LC looks – the hybrid version is the same as the V8, but under the bonnet will be Lexus’s next generation hybrid powertrain – the Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System – which, claims Lexus, will offer “…more performance, enhanced driving pleasure and greater efficiency“.

What Lexus aren’t revealing is exactly what the new hybrid system offers the LC, but we can reveal what the informed rumour mill claims.

The speculation is that the LC 500h gets an all new 3.5 litre V6, coupled to an electric motor. Just as you’d expect.

And it seems the combined output of the hybrid will exceed the 467bhp of the V8 version, with the ICE delivering something over 300bhp and the electric motor something over 200bhp. Although how that will work without the 500h being a plug-in, we’re not entirely sure.

Still, the hybrid take on the LC will debut at Geneva in a couple of weeks, and we’ll then find out the official specs for the new hybrid powertrain.
