‘New’ Top Gear FIRST Road Trip caught on video
The first ‘new’ Top Gear Road Trip set off from London to Blackpool this morning with Chris Evans and Matt Le Blanc in topless Reliant Robins.
It was just last week the BBC confirmed the line-up for the ‘New’ 2016 Top Gear, and today the first ‘Road Trip’ for the new series set off from London.Listeners to Evan’s Breakfast Show on Radio 2 will have heard Matt Le Blanc and Chris Evans discussing the Road Trip this morning, and both concluded it must be somewhere exotic as they needed jabs before they could take part. But it’s not quite as exotic as they thought.
In fact, the very first Top Gear Road trip – or the first we know about, at least – kicked off after Evans’ show this morning, with Chris and Matt each in a Reliant Robin without a roof, and heading for …Blackpool.
Yes, the exotic destination is the Las Vegas of Lancashire, and the idea of a 250 mile drive in a three-wheel Reliant Robin with no roof isn’t something we’d relish, especially in February.
And the new Top Gear hosts aren’t likely to be able to do the trip ‘under the radar’ either, as each was bedecked in a wrap denoting the nationality of the driver – Evans got a Union Jack wrap and Le Blanc a Stars and Stripes.
Just how much of their Reliant Robin adventure will be a re-run of Jeremy Clarkson’s remains to be seen, but we’ll find out more when Top Gear returns to our screens on 8 May.
