2016 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Facelift revealed – with a hint of the new Alfa Giulia

A facelift for the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulietta has been revealed featuring a mild cosmetic makeover and new model designations. Debuts at Geneva 2016.

Now, with a new rear-wheel drive Giulietta still a year or two away, Alfa has given the Giulietta a makeover for 2016 with cosmetic tweaks, new model designations and new equipment. There’s also a hint of the new Giulia‘s styling in the facelift.

The exterior cosmetic changes are most visible on the Alfa’s nose, with a new honeycomb grille, new air inlets, tweaks to the headlight and fog lights surrounds and black bumper inserts, whilst the back end benefits from subtly changed tail lights.

Inside, there are new seats, the latest Uconnect Infotainment and black trim inserts, and there’s also some new alloy wheel designs and a couple of new paint colours – Alfa White and Lipari Grey.

Alfa has also changed the current model designations and replaced them with a smaller range with names that echo Alfa’s history – Giulietta, Super, Tecnica, Speciale and Veloce – which will probably follow on to the new Giulia too.

You’ll notice that there’s no longer a range-topping Quadrifoglio Verde Giulietta, but that’s because Alfa are keeping that for serious performance models. However, the new Veloce keeps the old QV’s spec and performance pretty much intact.

Across the rest of the new range you will get stuff like Air Con, Bluetooth, DNA mode and 16″ alloys as standard, with Super models adding Climate, Cruise and better seats, and Lusso throwing in leather and a bigger infotainment screen.

Engines remain pretty much unchanged, but you will now be able to spec the TCT dual-clutch gearbox on the 118bhp 1.6 JTDm diesel, with official economy and emissions at 74.3mpg and 99g/km.

The 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulietta goes on sale at Alfa’s UK dealers on 1 April 2016. The price for the entry-level Giulietta models remains unchanged at £18,450, but Alfa hasn’t yet revealed prices for the new model range.
