The 2017 VW Amarok previewed with design sketch
A new Volkswagen Amarok Pick-Up is due to arrive in the UK later in 2016, and VW are previewing its arrival with design sketches.
The market for double-cab pick=ups is a healthy one thanks to tax breaks, so to keep its share of the market – and try to take business from the Nissan Navara and Mitsubish L200 – the Volkswagen Amarok is getting a bit of a makeover.Clearly, Volkswagen hasn’t yet got as far as building the new Amarok (well, giving it a facelift) but they have had their artists playing to deliver sketches of the new Amarok so we can all get excited.
Volkswagen tell us that the ‘Premium’ Amarok will continue to deliver a pick-up that drives like a passenger car on road and has full off-road abilities.
But VW say they have given the new Amarok a more athletic face and a new instrument panel for a more premium feel (think SUV with a flatbed at the back), but as this is a facelift and not a new car then dimension (5.25m long and 2.23m wide) aren’t any different.
VW are clearly aiming to push the Amarok a bit more upmarket (which will inevitably mean the current starting price of £25k will rise), and are doing so before Mercedes’ new pick-up arrives with its three-pointed star ‘Premium’ gloss (even if it is a Nissan under the skin).
The VW Amarok facelift will arrive in the UK before the end of the year.
