Jaguar XE production goes home to Castle Bromwich

Jaguar Land Rover are moving production of the Jaguar XE from Solihull to Castle Bromwich in £100m move to accommodate growing F-Pace demand.
Jaguar Land Rover production in the Midlands was, until recently, split along clear lines, with Solihull delivering Land Rover products – Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery – and Castle Bromwich Jaguar cars – Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XF and Jaguar F-Type.But the arrival of the latest Jaguars – the Jaguar XE and Jaguar F-Pace – saw Solihull become home to Jaguar’s new 3-Series rival and Jaguar’s first foray in to SUVs with the F-Pace (although Jaguar will tell you the F-Pace isn’t an SUV), but that small anomaly is being addressed, to a degree, with Jaguar XE production moving ‘home’ to Castle Bromwich.
With £100m of extra investment, JLR has kitted Castle Bromwich out to take on production of the Jaguar XE with new press lines, body shops and assembly halls to ensure the site can deliver on the demand for the XE, as well as continue building the XJ, XF and F-Type.
The move sees Castle Bromwich as Jaguar’s main production centre, although the blurring of the Jaguar/Land Rover lines the new F-Pace has created sees it continuing to be built at Solihull, where demand for the F-Pace (and the Land Rover models) will see the plant continue to work three shifts to meet demand.
