Tesla Model X SUV 60D DROPPED

The entry-level Tesla Model X SUV – the Model X 60D – has been dropped after just three months, making the cheapest Model X the £76.5k 75D.
It’s always nice when a premium car maker launches a new car to have a headline grabbing entry-level model. For Tesla, with the launch of the electric Model X SUV, that was the Model X 60D. But not anymore. The Tesla Model X 60D was launched in July as Tesla’s £64k entry-level SUV, and even if £64k is a lot for any car, it did offer value for money.
The 60D may not have had the headline-grabbing acceleration of the P100D with Ludicrous mode, but it still delivered a full sized SUV with a decent range and 0-62mph in 6.0 seconds.
That made the 60D something of a star buy, but it seems Tesla are not terribly interested in delivering a bargain basement Model X, so just three months after the 60D was announced it’s dead and buried.
Tesla say it’s because its customers want more power and range than the 60D could offer, but we rather suspect it’s because it was uneconomical for Tesla to build; the 60D actually came with the same battery pack as the 75D, but dialled down by software. So the savings for Tesla were probably minimal, even though the 60D sold for £10k less than the 75D
So now, if you want to order a Model X, the entry-level is the 75D. And that will cost you from £76,500.

Such a shame. Was a very good car.
