The Aston Martin Vanquish S arrives to replace the Vanquish at the top of Aston’s range, with 595bhp from its 5.9 litre V12 and £200k price tag.
You could be forgiven for thinking that the arrival of the Aston Martin DB11 complete with downsized, turbocharged V12 would see the end of Aston’s naturally aspirated 5.9 litre V12. But it seems not.It seems that the naturally aspirated V12 has a bit more life in it yet as it gets a further tweaking and fettling to take its place under the bonnet of the new Aston Martin Vanquish S, a replacement for the Vanquish without an S.
The tweaking to the engine means an extra 27bhp to give the Vanquish S almost as much power – 595bhp – as the DB11, although it has to make do with no increase in torque.
The extra power helps the Vanquish S get to 62mph in 3.5 seconds – 0.3s better than the outgoing Vanquish – with the top speed unchanged at 201mph.
To make the new Vanquish S stand out from the old Vanquish, Aston has gone a bit heavy on the carbon fibre bodykit, including loud splitter and diffuser and four drainpipes for exhausts.
There’s also some new alloys as well as chunks of carbon fibre in the cabin nestling with Bridge of Weir leather and B&O Sound.
Aston Martin boss, Andy Palmer, said:
The Vanquish S takes things a step further, confidently asserting itself within the Aston Martin range and distinguishing itself from the new DB11.
A spectacular machine in every sense, the Vanquish S is a magnificent addition to our range
The new Vanquish S can be had as a Coupe or Volante, with UK prices starting from £199,950.
