A new Aventador from Lamborghini – the 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S – has been revealed, with 730bhp, four-wheel steering and a £271k price tag.
Lamborghini has a habit of titivating the Aventador, calling it a ‘Special’ model and charging a million or two. Which makes this, the 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S, an absolute bargain at £271,146.The Aventador S gets a new nose which manages to produce 130% more downforce than the regular Aventador, as well as looking a lot more butch, and at the back the three-position rear wing serves a similar function with up to 50% more downforce and 400% less drag.
Just like the ‘Special’ Aventadors, this new S also gets more power from Lamborghini’s 6.5 litre V12, here producing a whopping 730bhp and 509lb/ft of torque, enough for a 0-62mph of 2.9 seconds and 217mph top speed.
The newly tweaked engine puts its power to all four wheels through Lambo’s seven-speed gearbox, and there’s four-wheel steering too for more agility and stability at high speeds and easier manoeuvering at low speeds (the Aventador is a bit of a lump).
Changes to the suspension on the S are said to deliver quicker responses, and it also gets an additional driving mode, Ego, to add to the existing Strada, Sport and Corsa for owners to add their very own settings. Which could be a bad move.
The new Aventador S appears to be replacing the existing Aventador, with a price some £11k up at £271,146. First UK customer cars will arrive in spring 2017.
