Hyundai see a perfect connected future for Couch Potatoes (+ video)

Hyundai sees your car as an integral part of your home at 2017 CES

Hyundai has turned up at the Consumer Electronics Show with a range of technology including a car that docks with your house and an Ioniq scooter.

Most of us don’t have to work in the mill for 25 hours a day after walking 300 miles across cobbles to get there, and as a result (well, it’s a contributor) we’re all fat, unfit and proper couch potatoes. And if Hyundai are right, the future will be even better.

Arriving at the Consumer Electronics Show with a raft of new technology, Hyundai sees a future where your car will dock with your home to become an integrated part of your domestic environment – Hyundai’s Mobile Vision Smart House.

It will be able to feed media from the car to house’s screens, act as an emergency electricity generator and even feed the ultimate couch potato fantasy by allowing a moveable seat to glide from the house in to the connected car and off to wherever.

Sadly for our future couch potato, there will be times when he has to actually leave the cocoon created between his house and car, but Hyundai know our future couch potato won’t relish that, so they have that covered with the electric Ioniq Scooter to do the ‘last mile’ bits. Obviously, it’s much better than actually walking.

The scooter stows, folded, in the door of the Ioniq Electric, charging itself when not in use so it’s ready to be unfolded so you don’t have to do anything as unpleasant as putting one foot in front of the other when your car gets you to where you’re going.

The future is connected – the future is fat boy.

Away from Hyundai’s desire to make us all get fat and move less in the future, there’s help for those who already can’t move well, with wearable robotics offering assistive exoskeletons for those with spinal injuries – and the elderly immobile – to have freedom of movement. Properly clever.

Finally, Hyundai demonstrates their Autonomous Ioniq Concept, with CES visitors able to undertake a driverless journey through VR sets, and see the technology doesn’t have to make the Ioniq look like a school project.
