Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV updated for 2017
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – Mitsubishi’s plug-in hybrid Outlander – gets updated for 2017 with chassis tweaks and EV priority mode.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has proved to be an enormous success for Mitsubishi since it arrived in the UK in 2014, and has sold more than 26,000 since making it easily the most popular plug-in in the UK.Mitsubishi has continued to improve the Outlander PHEV in the intervening years, and it’s now a much nicer car to drive than early versions, and trim levels have improved too.
But Mitsubishi aren’t standing still with the Outlander, and have revealed a number of tweaks for 2017 to add to its appeal, an appeal that works for families but which is almost compelling for company car buyers with its 7% BIK rate.
New for 2017 is an EV Priority mode which keeps the Outlander in EV mode – as long as there’s charge in the batteries – and an electronic parking brake with hill hold function is added.
The powertrain and chassis have also been tweaked, with new dampers and suspension bushes, there’s improved rapid charging with 80% in 25 minutes now possible and there’s an extra mile of range (although the 33 mile official range is going to be about a third less in the real world) and the regenerative braking is more efficient.
Safety improvements include the addition of Pedestrian Detection to the Forward Collision Mitigation system fitted to the 4h and 5h models, and the 4h now gets Blind Spot Warning and Cross Traffic Alert.
Other titivations include a new colour option – Cool Silver – a shark fin antenna on the roof, charge-poont cover linked to the central locking, silver roof rails and chrome accents on the sills.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV costs from £34,749 for the PHEV 3h, £39,399 for the PHEV 4h and £43,899 for the PHEV 5h. You can also still get a £2.5k taxpayer bribe to buy one.
