2017 Volkswagen Golf GTE updated and on sale in the UK
The Volkswagen Golf GTE plug-in hybrid is updated for 2017 with new technology, choice of trim levels and prices which ar £3,240 less than the outgoing model.
Fast forward to today, and a revised and updated Golf GTE arrives in the UK, only this time it’s priced from £30,635 – a reduction in price of £3,240 – which means the price you will pay, now the grant is just £2,500, will be £28,135 – within £100 of the price in 2015.
That’s good news for those who want a plug-in hybrid Golf, although the cynic may wonder whether VW’s pricing has more to do with the government grant than the actual cost to produce.
Still, the Golf GTE comes with a plug-in hybrid setup of a 148bhp 1.4 litre TSI and a 101bhp electric motor, up to 31 miles of EV range, a 0-62mph of 7.6 seconds and official economy and emissions of 166mpg and 38g/km which is all quite appealing.
What you now get is a choice of the entry Golf GTE for £30,635 plus a new Golf GTE Advance for £32,135 which gives more goodies including 18″ Marseille alloys, updated Discovery Navigation, Winter Pack with heated seats.
Both models come with full LED lights front and back, Active Info Display and VW Car-Net App Connect functionality as well as four driving modes – E-Mode, GTE mode, Battery Charge and Hybrid.
