Hyundai builds a world first ‘Contactless Payment’ Ioniq for Stand Up To Cancer Fundraising

Hyundai is championing Stand Up To Cancer and has built an Ioniq complete with contactless payment points to allow donations.

We weren’t entirely sure what a Contactless Hyundai Ioniq would be when Hyundai’s email dropped in, but it turns out is a custom-built Ioniq with five contactless payment points. But what’s the point of that, you may ask?

Well, instead of waving your card around to try an pay for your morning coffee and newspaper, Hyundai are hoping you will wave your card at their custom Ioniq to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer.  

Hyundai has become a partner with Stand Up For Cancer, and is on a mission to raise funds from employees, customers and the general public to help the fight against a disease which will affect half of us during our lives.

The launch of the Contactless Hyundai Ioniq is on May 22 at Kings Cross, with a roadshow running round the UK from May until November to garner as much cash as possible.

All you need to do is wave your card to donate either £5 or £10, and the Ioniq will thank you for your donation with an audio or visual ‘Ta very much’, and a totalizer where the front number plate usually is will display a running total.
