The Lexus LC – the new Lexus range-topping Coupe – has now gone in to production for the UK and Europe, with the first LCs arriving here in August.
The Lexus LC Coupe is the car that never should have been.Just a concept of a design exercise, the overwhelmingly positive response to its unveiling saw Toyota commit to building it, and now it’s gone in to production in Japan for the UK (and European) market.
Toyota has decided to build the new Lexus LC at their Motomachi plant – previously the home of the LFA – in a production environment which has been designed to allow huge focus on precision and quality.
The new LC production line concludes with a glass-walled booth allowing intense scrutiny of the finished product, with unforgiving lighting highlighting even the tiniest flaw.
Both versions of the LC Coupe available at launch – we expect a range-topping 600bhp LC to arrive later – have gone in to production today, with the regular LC 500 with its V8 and ten-speed auto being built together with the default Lexus hybrid take on the new LC – the LC 500h. Both versions start at £75,595.
Lexus say the first LCs will start to arrive in their UK dealerships in August, so for those of you who were quick to get their order in, there’s not too long to wait.
And it’s a wait that will be worth it for the way the LC looks alone.
